PC Assembly and Installation Course

During the school holiday that just passed, I attended a computer course organized by Compusonic Computer Centre (CCC). It is a 2-day course and 12 hours long. As I was quite free, so I think it was a quite good chance to learn how to assembly a computer.

Only 3 people including me joined the course. Quite pity as I can say. No matter how, we were all very exciting and curious about the course. It costed about RM300.

The first day, The tutor, Loh explains the theory and history about the computer. This part was quite similiar to the history lesson. It was just that you are learning the history of the silicon and binary number system, not the Malaysia history. Loh was very emphasis on the theory part as it is the basic. So to those who are planning to take similiar course, I hope that you won't ignore that part.

After lunch time, we were told to read manuals. 3 of us got shocked. Honestly it was very boring. You need to read through many manual books such as the motherboard, casing and etc. There is no shortcut when learning. Meanwhile, Loh brought us some used CPU and some tools.

Before disassembly the part, you need to ground yourself. You just need to insert a test pen into the ground connection of the socket. You just need to touch your finger to the test pen for about few seconds. Don't try this at home if you really understand what I am saying just now.

So, let the party begins. We were trying to taking out all the parts until the CPU was left with the casing and PSU. It was not a quite hard job. We were told to put back all the parts. The complicated part is not putting all the parts back. It was the wiring problem. The PSU has quite an ammount of wire. So this was quite tough. Unfortunately, all three of us can't finished in time. So we decided the next day to continue.

The second day and also the final lesson, again still quite confusing with the wiring. So the only way was to ask for Loh help. So with the generous help by Loh, we managed to settle the problem. Than it was the time to try out whether the system functional or not.

3 of us passed the challenge. Loh also taught us the BIOS settings and how to install the Windows XP. For the final challenges, we were asked to find the drivers. It was a piece of cake for me as I am quite often doing this job. My other 2 partners weren't in good condition. They can't find the drivers the needed. But eventually they found out with the aid by Loh.

From that course, I found out that only through practical you only can learn how to do assmbly the parts. You also need to update yourself. The course only provided some historical parts such as socket 478 or AGP graphuc card. So at least after attending the course which I know more or less how to assembly, I have the gut to assembly the parts.

So that's the end of the course. If anyone interested or wanted to join the course, please refer call 04-2827268 or log onto http://www.compusonic.com.my/.

DAP General Election 2008 Campaign Song

Have you ever heard before the FIFA 2006 official theme song - Stand Up ? Democratic Action Party (DAP) changed the lyrics and named it as Just Change in English, 改变in Chinese and Berubah in Malay. the lyrics is written by Tony Pua, current Petaling Jaya Utara MP and 郑云城 (Teh Hon Seng).

I have pasted both Chinese and English lyrics below. You can find this video at Youtube too. I may be a bit late when posting this lyrics. But trust me, it is a very good song.

DAP Campaign Song - Just Change Lyrics

Lyrics - Tony Pua

Just change for Malaysia
Just change for Malaysia
Just change we will over come
Just change we will see the sun

Together all races stand as one
Together we will never run
Together it’s like never before

Senseless crimes We will end the pain
Inflation We will also tame
Together We will rise again

Just change for Malaysia
Just change for Malaysia
Just change we will over come
Just change we will see the sun

We will fight for our rights to be free
For equality Justice we will defend, leaders must have integrity

(Forever)Malaysians must come first
(and never)will we be coerced
(remember)if we vote wisely
(together)We will make history
(everyone of us must make that change)

Just change for Malaysia

Just change we will over come
Just change we will never run

Just change for Malaysia

RAE Exam 2007-2

Last year, 28/11/2007, I sat for the Radio Amateur Exam (RAE) at UiTM, Merbok, Kedah. It is an exam which held by Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commision (MCMC) for those who wants to become a radio amateur or hams. So I took the exam and paid for RM50.

Several months before the exam, I attended the preparation class. 8 lessons, 3 hours for each lesson and I am ready for the big time.

Usually in sort of exam, most of our parents will be taking us to there. However, I was not so lucky. Both my parents cant took me there as they need to work. So I have to car pool. A classmate offered us a ride for me and my friend, Jia Pheng. We eventually accepted.

So about 10a.m., I was ready and sat Rapid to the Gelugor bus stand. After a short period of half an hour, we were ready and blast-off Penang. Soon we were sitting in a Proton Wira, moving at 110km/h. You can feel the car is shattering. The parts seem going to break off.

Luckily, after a 50 minutes ride on the highway, we arrive the destination. But first, we have to take our lunch. I had a quite bad impression of Kedah. It was just like a cowboy town. Tonnes of dust was flying in the sky at anytime. Than another issue, fly. These bloody irritaing insects just annoying us. We can't really concentrate to have our lunch.

No matter how, we manage to finish the lunch. We head straight to UiTM. It is really a big campus. Luckily we didn't get lost and we found the exam hall. The hall can fit in about 100 people. As usual, no handphone and not a single conversation.

I am really nervous about the exam. This is the 1st time I sat for it. Honestly, in such a situation, you only can pray to God to reduce the tension. The examiner reads out loud what are the dos and don'ts. Each candidate was given a question booklet, a piece of blank A4 paper and answering sheet.

The exam starts. and we were given green light to answer the question. The paper consists of 100 objective question - 20 questions about rules and regulation, 30 questions about operating procedure and 50 question about technical stuff.

I was having a good time when answering the question. Sadly, I had forgotten some of the technical stuff. We were given 3 hours to finish the paper. The first hour you have to been in the hall. The following second and thrid hour was kind of like extra time. If you can't finish it in 1 hour, you still get plentyfull of 2 hours t go. I finish my paper in 1 hour and 20 minutes. For your information, you can't bring the exam paper out of the hall. It is just same as the Living Skills paper in the PMR exam. The question is almost identical every year as they were picked from a question pool.

The time was 4.00pm. Some people even bring radios, antenna, wires and etc. to be sold at there. Many people was attraced. We had a short rest at the cafeteria while waiting for the others to come out. Most of them was saying the exam is quite tough.

It is the time for us to back to Penang. This time, me and Jia Pheng were sitting in another car back to Penang. We sat in a Toyota Hilux pickup truck which had me, Jia Pheng and another 3 middle-age men.

The traffic was not so terrible afterall. We stuck at the Penang Bridge for 10 minutes and that is the traffic jam I had encounter all the day. I arrive home at 6.00pm. I had a bath and had my dinner with my family. All was going well.

After 2 months, I received a letter from MCMC. I passed the RAE. I am quite happy as I no need to sit for the exam again and pay another innocent RM50. I think that's quite a happy ending, is it ?

What is Malaysian National Service (NS) For ??

The Malaysian National Service (NS) has been carried out for 5 years. Before going into the main discussion, let us understand the initial objective of NS.

NS was was first proposed in late 2001, brought to committee the following year, and finally brought to action in 2003. Initially it was thought that all youth of a certain age would be drafted but later the numbers were restricted due to lack of resources. The program was also initially planned as a 2-year program, which was later reduced to a year, and then six months, and to its present three-month length. The rationale for National Service was to bond the youth of Malaysia together and create a Malaysian nation, as the problem of racial polarisation was found to pervade educational institutions in Malaysia.

Objective of NS :

- Develop a young generation who are patriotic and with love for their country
- Enhance unity among the multi-racial communities in the country
- Instill a spirit of caring and volunteerism among society
- Produce an active, intelligent and confident generation
- Develop positive characteristics among the younger generation through good values
- Develop a generation that will always obey the current government

So has our youth become more patriotic after NS? No.

It is quite impossible to make or force them love their own motherland in just 3 months. It is totally mission impossible. I can say almost all the so called "conscript" are forced to join NS. Maybe 1 in 100 000 only enjoy NS.

Has the youth become intelligent after joining NS ? Again a sad answer. No.
How can a youth become intelligent by camping for 3 months time ? The young generation are smart and intelligent. They are capable to giving constructive opinion and ideas. They can know which is right and which is wrong. Just that they express their opinion and feelings on the Internet and blog. And this makes the govt unhappy. So the govt wants to teach the youth a lesson by sending the youth to NS. So that they will become a Singaporean -very obidient.

After NS has been launched in 2003, there are total 18 trainee fatalities cases. Why was that happen ? The govt should had the responsibility to take care of the trainee. Since the govt can't take the full responsibility, the govt. should stop the NS programme.

The security and cleanliness at most camps are very poor. In the more rural camps, communal bathing in murky ponds is practiced. The atrocious living conditions are speculated to be lower than announced cost of constructing the camp by the government. Sick trainees are NOT allowed to leave their camp even for treatment. This has been the cause of some trainees' death or illness.

Besides that, the cost of continuing NS is too costly. There are more than 70 NS training sites in Malaysia. Assuming that the cost of operating 1 training site is RM 10 million, 70 will cost about Rm700 million. The big amount of money can be used for education, development in rural area or improving the public transport system.

Too many trainee die in the service. Yet the youth didn't even learn how to protect the country if the country in danger or the Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation in 1962 - 1966 happens again. A Colt M-16 training lesson will train more and more people which know how to friendly fire with M-16. Useless !!

Are we willing to see those incident happen and happen again ? It is a complete nightmare. So say no to NS as it is completely rubbish and hopeless.

Post your comment about NS. Your comment is one of the way where we can discuss more about the NS.

Thanks for reading !!

-JoE.CoM- fully support about the increase of petrol price.

Greetings to all,

At this post, I want to introduce a person to the readers.
Some say he is a ex-CEO of of Cyber Village Sdn Bhd in Singapore. And even so he has been the MP of Petaling Jaya Utara for more than 100 days. All we know is, he is called Tony Pua !!

Tony Pua, the Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya Utara under Democratic Action Party (DAP). He is also the economic advisor to the DAP secretary-general, as well as the investment liaison officer for the Penang Chief Minister based in the Klang Valley.

Tony is objecting about the incerase of petrol price as the current BN-based govt hasn't provide an alternative way for the people. It is true. If the govt has provided a superior public transport in every state, the rising of petrol price is quite considerable. Like Singapore, the tiny red dot, this kia-su govt provide a good public transport for the Singaporean but didn't subsidie the petrol. So the Singaporeans wont be so dumb to drive their own car to work. This will cost them more. So they rather sit LRT, buses or taxis.

Therefore Singapore is more eco-friendly, less traffic congestion and not so dependant on the black gold. This is what we should learn from the tiny red dot.

However, we Malaysians we don't care about that. We just keep on depending on the subsidies. The subsidies is just like a wheelchair. If we are too depending on it, we won't know how to walk at all. So this is why all of our parents just let us fell down when we are learning to walk. We learn to be steady.

That's the same reason for Malaysia. The govt is too protecting everything. The petrol, Protons, Naza, Perodua etc. When we are going to wake up from the sweet dream ?? Are we going to wake up like after the Japs bombard Pearl Harbour till bits.

Petrol is limited as I should repeat again. I think Malaysian have forgotten what is written in the Geography text book. Petrol won't grow itself. So the Chinese proverbs “物以稀为贵”, when the demand is more than the supply, the price will naturally rise. For e.g., you have won the jackpot. You use all the money to buy the jackpot again, hope that you will win more. This action is totally stupid !!

A country with strong economy don't have much subsidies. Subsidies is only temporary, like Panadol which kills the pain temporary. After that, you still have to face the doctor.

After telling why I am very supportive to the increase of petrol price, I should tell you what the Barang Naik govt. should do.

Firstly, give the Malaysian a public transport system like Switzerland, high efficiency and punctual. If the govt willing to spend so much money to launch economy corridor like Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) which cost RM 13 billion, there is no reason they don't have fund to improve the quality of public transport ? Rapid Penang should hire more driver and buy more bus, ensure the drivers follow the timetable. This is more practical.

Second, Say no to Aproved Permit (AP) and tax to import car. If the govt didnt tax so high on import car, my parents may be driving BMW or Toyota. In order to protect the 26 years old baby Proton, the govt taxes import car so high. The practice of APs helped shift dominance of the car import industry from the ethnic Chinese to the Malays. Thus the AP Kings just monopolise the market and we all have to drive Proton where was likely built in jungles by people who wear leaves for shoes. Would you ?

As a conclusion, there is no way you can avoid the fuel hike. Face it now or you will suffer more later !!

If the readers have any comment or better ideas, please drop your precious comment !!

I had read Malaysiakini Chinese version just now and found out this interesting article. It seems the writer, kWanGoNg is having the same ideology as me. So I have copy the article and paste it in my blog. Hope you all enjoy reading the article.

kWanGoNg

Nike Shox Swift

Nike has produced various of sport shoes using technology and soul.

I believed that one of the best is the Shox series. Shox are small hollow columns that make up the midsole of the shoe. They are mostly made of rubber. There are many different formations that Shox come in, but they usually come with four circular columns in a square formation for maximum cushioning. There can be 5 or 6 Shox that vary in height to provide better stability.

Nike claims that Shox not only absorb impact from heel strike while running; they also "spring back" and add more power to a runner's stride.

I am currently wearing Nike Shox Swift. It is the shoe that shown above. The shoe is actually very good. It is supported by 6 shox plug, which provide a good comfort for your leg.
I bought this shoe in March 2007. It has been 1 year and this shoe never disappoint me.

It has Air Zoom layer, Shox plug and the the fabric of the shoe is quite good and allows air movement into the shoe. The colour is very stirking, yellow. I called it as "Bumblebee" or banana shoe.

The shoe itself is very intelligent. It seems to have Traction Control (TC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) that have in a car. You may run at high speed and turn into the corner but you wont fell or slide. This shoe will grip on the floor, provides you a good cornering. About the brakes, it just astonishing. It's like been fitted with Brembo F1 Brakes. It has its own on-board computer which do all the calculation, like how much power need to be deploy on every side and how much torque need to be used.

I love this shoe. I really did. This shoe is no longer on sales as it is limited edition. I mean the striking yellow version. Other colour seem not very nice or good looking. So if you wanted to buy a sport shoe and you have found the Shox Swift in yellow, it's recommended to get it.

Amateur Radio picture

The last post I have discuss about ham radio. Now i will be showing you all about the event & equipment.

This is the measuring-tape homebrew 6 element Yagi directional antenna.

This the beacon used in fox hunt. Not cheap to build. Cost about RM500 or maybe more.

Hams in action. Currently goin up the hill.

Hams' laptop as log book, beside that is a Yaesu FT897 if not mistaken. tri-band. Picture was shoot during JOTA 2007.

Me, 9W2JOE with the hidden antenna during 9M4CLH, Chung Ling High School Marathon Duty.

Me QSO with a station via 9M4RPH.
Picture of hams and AWS committe after ham radio seminar.

Amateur Radio

I am sure that most of you don't know about what is Amateur Radio or ham radio.
You may seen some peoples car have a long long antenna fixed on the car bonnet and written words like "9W2ART". These peoples are actually not those who operate tow truck. These are amateur radio operator, or known as hams.

Ham radio is a hobby which using radio to communicate and carry out experiment. Unlike handphone, the output pwoer of ham radio is much more higher. The radio may pump out 5W, which enough to transmitt from Air Itam to Georgetown.

You may ask, my handphone also no problem at doing that. Yes. But your handphone need a lot of repeater as the output power of the handphone is quite low, approximately 0.01W. Nowadays you may often read news about people object setting up telecomm. tower near the residental area. The handphone service provider, e.g. : DiGi, Maxis & Celcom has to build or set up more repeater. The best way is to build 1 giant tower and put their repeater on the tower. This extend the coverage.

During disaster like earthquake or tsunami, when all the normal communication is off, ham radio is the only communication system available. Unlike handphone, it doesn't need repeater. For e.g., many hams in Chinahas taken part in the Search and Rescue operation after the Sichuan earthquake.

Hams are the nameless heros. They help when people needed the most. They have to get their own radio equipment. These radios neither free nor provided by the govt.

Hams may carry out experiments. Hams may constuct their own antenna, do some mega project like communicate with the International Space Station (ISS). Last year during our 1st Angkasawan, Dr Sheikh Muzsaphar Shukor went to the ISS, some hams in Penang has communicate with him on the radio. This ain't an easy job. You have to aim your antenna to the ISS and the frequency changes all the time. The distance between earth and ISS is about 400km.

There are many event for you if you are a ham. You may join the scout annual Jamboree-On-The-Air (JOTA) or fox hunt. If some of you went to last year Jamboree, you may heard the conversation of Dr. Sheikh Muzsaphar Shukor with the National Planetarium. It is a very rare chances to heard the conversation.

Fox hunt ?? We are not hunter which pick a riffle or a shortgun, go into the woods and hunt down the foxes. Fox hunt is a challenges or competition where hams need to find out the hidden transmitter. Hams are mostly using their own 6-element Yagi directional antenna which make of measuring tape. You will be surprise with the result of that homebrew measuring tape antenna. It has high gain, easy to be made and easy to be stored.

You may use the ham radio to chatting with the local hams. It is a nice communication tools. You may communicate with hams at bukit Metajam while you are at Penang Island with the help of the repeater. There is no hidden charges. You can talk till you drop for the whole day. Average you just need to pay RM3 per month and you can "ragchew". But there is some topics that you cant talk on the radio. For e.g. : politics, business, sex, anti govt topic, quarrel and etc.
Interested to become a hams ?
To become a ham, you need to sit for the Radio Amateur Examination (RAE) held by Malaysia Communication and Multimedia System(MCMC). The exam held twice per year, usually around June and November. It consists of 100 objective question, which the passing marks is 50. It is very very easy compared to the school standard. You have to know about basic electronic knowledge, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), radio wave and etc. The exam is RM50 and it is a National Level competition. You may surf the MCMC webpage - http://www.skmm.gov.my/ or Malaysia Amateur Radio Transmitters' Soceity (MARTS) webpage - http://www.marts.org.my/ .

After you pass the RAE, you may apply for the Class B license. You will be using a 9W call sign. This allows you to pump out 50W from your rig. Quite enough to communicate to Taiping from Penang.

How much the radio cost ?? A normal portable set or known as handy may cost around RM300 to RM400. High end model may cost from RM600 to Rm1300. A single band mobile set will cost you about RM700 if included the antenna. It is less than your handphone. Isn't that brilliant ??

So if anyone interested or curious about ham radio , can contact me via e-mail, msn or phone.

Thanks for reading !!

A method for earning money quick.

Greetings to all,

Not too long ago, my friend introduces me a webpage called bux.to.
It is a Paid To Click (PTC) website. You actually can earn money from there.

How it works ? I think this is the most important thing that you all want to know.

Some company pays bux.to money to advertise their product or service. Then bux.to let the viewers to sign in and get paid when they read the (advertisment)ads. This makes the products or services can be known through the net.

What so special about bux.to ??
1) It is FREE to join. You just need to open 2 accounts, 1 is the bux.to account and another 1 is the Alertpay account. The Alertpay account is sort of a bank account. It does all the transection of the money you get. Both account are free. You don't need to pay any annual fee, registration fee or member fee. It is actually very brilliant.

2) The cost of joining. You doesn't need to pay anything for joing the programme. All you need to do is to read the ads everyday. Thats all. Even a 5 year-old child can do it if they want.
If they didnt pay you, you have nothing to worry as you didnt pay anything to join the programme.

3) Refer to your friends
You may ask your friends to join under your account. Thus you can earn some money from there. When you referral clicks 1 ads, you will also get 0.01USD into your pocket.

4) How much money can I make ?
Bux.to pays you 0.01 USD per ads you read. Average you will get 10 ads per day. So you will earn 0.1USD per day. In 1 month you will earn 3 USD. You need to have 10.00USD in your account to get paid. There is no limit for the reading of ads. So your earning is virtually unlimited.

So if you are really interested to join this amazing programme, please log on to
http://bux.to/?r=kjypgmy
If you really have problems for signing, please contact me via e-mail or through msn.

Thanks for reading !!

Together it’s like never before
Together what we’re fighting for

Just change for Malaysia
Just change for Malaysia
Just change we will over come
Just change we will see the sun

Corruption We will stop the drain
Senseless crimes We will end the pain
Inflation We will also tame
Together We will rise again

Just change for Malaysia
Just change for Malaysia
Just change we will over come
Just change we will see the sun

We will fight for our rights to be free
For equality Justice we will defend, leaders must have integrity

(Forever)Malaysians must come first
(and never)will we be coerced
(remember)if we vote wisely
(together)We will make history
(everyone of us must make that change)

Just change for Malaysia
Just change for Malaysia
Just change we will over come
Just change we will never run

Just change for Malaysia
Just change for Malaysia
Just change we will over come
Just change we will see the sun
Just change…
